Nomination Meeting Information - Nomination Safety and Wellness Plan

  • Notice of Nominations has been safely distributed by Canada Post, newsletter, posted on Nation bulletin boards, social media and the Nation’s website
  • A Notice of Election and Nomination Form should have been sent to you by the Electoral Officer. Your nominations will be accepted when you complete the form and:
    • Use Canada Post to send the form directly to the Electoral Officer
    • Email your form to the electoral officer at sandyandjamie@shaw.ca
    • Or faxed your from to the electoral officer at 250-642-7808

  • Socially distanced in person nominations will be as follows:
    • May 17, 2021 starting at 5:00pm – 8:00 pm
    • The in-person nominations will take place in the Board Room at Songhees Wellness Center, 1100 Admirals Road, Victoria BC
  • In-person safety and wellness measures are as follows:
    • Songhees Wellness Center Covid-19 safety measures will be implemented therefore there will be covid safety monitors (security) present.
    • Songhees Community members will be required to wear a mask, complete Covid wellness checks, and sanitize their hands upon arrival and departure, and follow entrance and exit procedures (one way in and out).
    • A maximum of 6 people will be permitted in the board room at any given time to comply with Social distancing requirements.
    • Please be advised if the maximum capacity of people is in the board room at any given time you will be requested to wait.

Safety and Wellness Plan For Election Day

Please be advised that Election Ballots will be accepted by mail and in-person

 Mail-in ballots have been or will be sent to Songhees Nation members by the Electoral Officer. Please forward any ballot requests directly to the Electoral Officer - Sandy Sprinkling.

 Mail-in ballots are required to be received by the electoral officer by June 15, 2021

 Socially distanced in-person Election will be as follows:

  • June 21, 2021, starting at 9:00 am until 8:00 pm
  • The in-person elections will take place in the He’Was hall (gym) at the Songhees Wellness centre located at 1100 Admirals road, Victoria B.C

In-person safety and wellness measures are as follows:

  • Songhees Wellness Center Covid -19 safety measures will be implemented; therefore, there will be Covid safety monitors (security) present.
  • Songhees Community members will be required to wear a mask, complete Covid wellness checks, and sanitize their hands upon arrival and departure, and follow entrance and exit procedures (one way in and out)
  • A maximum of 8 people will be permitted in the gym at any given time to comply with Social distancing requirements.
  • Please be advised that if the maximum capacity of people is in the gym at any given time, you will be requested to wait.
  • A time slot will be allocated for Songhees Elders only (60 & over): 9:00 am – 10:00 am
