March 23: Statement from Songhees Nation Leadership

To: Songhees Nation community,
Songhees Nation staff and council are continuously monitoring the rapidly evolving developments regarding COVID-19.
Due to the ongoing and increasingly unsafe spread of the covid virus pandemic we regret to inform you that all Nation lead programs and events are postponed and the Songhees Wellness Center will remain closed until April 14, 2020. The Health and safety of our members, staff and community at large remains our top priority.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as our staff work diligently remotely to offer essential services, please be assured the following essential services are available:
- Social assistance
- Telephone and facetime counseling / mental health supports
- Nurse Practitioner – Danielle available at Cool Aid Society 250-385-1466
- Nurse Practitioner / Doctor available at VNFC – 250- 384-3211
- Child protection /MCFD advocacy and support
- Post Secondary living allowance
- Support/advocacy accessing public Health systems
- Infrastructure and public works
- Elder shopping support
- Telephone, video nursing; guidance

All updates in regard to closures, essential services and Ministry of Health announcements will be made on the Nations social media pages, and through email distributions.
